Hend Sabri in “Asmaa”

Tunisian actress, Hend Sabri, plays the role of an HIV-infected widow, in the new Egyptian film”Asmaa”. A brave step for an actress to tackle such a taboo subject in the Middle East. No stranger to controversial roles, Sabri’s breakthrough came in 2001 in a role in the film “Diary of a Teenager (Mothakarat Morahiqa) when she accepted a part that involved kissing and the suggestion of sex outside marriage. Her following movie, A Citizen, a Detective and a Thief ( Mowaten we Mokhbar we Haramy) also had Sabri engaged in risqué sex scenes.
