Ahead of the premiere of “As it Was‘, a film documenting the solo comeback of Liam Gallagher, the release of a new single and an album on its way, I was commissioned by Q to photograph the great front man for this month’s cover.

January ‘Q’ Maverick

“When people say they like my records I think, ‘If you knew how hard it was to make these records you’d be even more impressed”

Shipbuilding, one of the most noteable protest songs recorded, was written for Robert Wyatt by Elvis Costello. An anti war song touching on the affects of The Falklands war on working class communities.The single was released in five different sleeves, all featuring sections from two of Stanley Spencer’s’s series of eight panels entitled Shipbuilding on the Clyde which were painted in the 1940s

Prince Fatty Presents Hollie Cook in “Dub”

Tropical Pop

Describing her music as tropical pop, Hollie Cook has released a dub remix version of her eponymous debut album “Hollie Cook”. It’s really great old school . I was privileged to spend an afternoon hearing the band rehearsing for their forthcoming tour and taking pictures for Q. It just doesn’t get much better!

Another year shooting with the fine team at Glastonbury for Q. Glorious weather, great music and fabulous company. Highlights for me where Delphic, Frank Turner, Flaming Lips, Midlake, Thom Yorke, and Empire of The Sun. Roll on 2011.
